- Due to the extreme popularity of monthly Barn Dances and
great two stepping Country Music at this establishment, Mooney Hollow
Barn was expaneded on the north, east and west sides of the barn to
hold a large capacity of people as it still exists today.
Also a loft area was built in the barn to
hold additional people to support private parties.
- In 1981, Country Legends from Nashville Tennessee were hired to
perform at the barn
-- The late Grand Ole Opry Legend, Roy Acuff performed at
the barn on Nov 14, 1981
-- Additonal Nashville Stars of Ernst Tubb, Faron Young, Porter
Wagner, wife of Jim Reeves, Kitty Wells & Bill
Anderson performed on the Mooney Hollow Opry stage from 1982 to
1983.
- In 1982, Mr Russ Hayward had a huge fiddle painted on the silo that
exists next to the barn. This masterpiece of art work has made
this legendary barn a landmark for locals and tourists to take
pictures of the huge fiddle on the silo and has put this barn on the
map..
- Mooney Hollow Barn was purchased by Marvin and Judy Manning in 1986
where they ran a restrauant out of the lower portion of the barn and
monthly barn dances were held.
- In October 2006, Mooney Hollow Barn was purchased by Vonnie and Kevin
Petesch who are the present owners after the barn was vacant and
inactive for 5 years.
-- In November 2006, the barn doors were open again for business
with a barn dance where Country Tradition (the house band) performed
upstairs in the reception hall/music center part of the barn after
5 years of being closed...the sounds of country music and families
having fun were started again at weekly barn dances.
-- The band, Country Tradition becamse the house band for the
barn which includes Mr Russ Hayward who is the original owner who
brought country music and Grand Ole Opry Legends to the barn. Country Tradition mostly plays the
first and third Saturday of every month. See this website

-- The Petesch's initially opened the barn the way it use to
operate where customers brought their own refreshments and a fee
was charged for families to enter the barn dances.
- In May 2007, Mooney Hollow Saloon was created where the Manning
Restrauant use to exist...for the first time the Barn held an alcohol
license and your own refreshments were no longer allowed.
- Now Mooney Hollow Barn (Reception Hall & Saloon) hold weekly Barn
Dances almost every Saturday night and the Saloon is open every day of
the week.
-- Recently the lower restrooms were expanded, restrooms
have been installed upstairs in the reception hall barn dance area, the
stairway to the upstairs area has been reversed to allow immediate
access to barn dances, new windows were installed upstairs along the
east side of the barn, the interior east side of the upstairs barn
walls were insulated and finished, walls were removed in the saloon
area to make it larger and the bar that was installed in May of 2007
was expanded to hold the many customers that enjoy this establishment
daily.
